Editorial policy and methodology

How we research, test, update and label content, and the criteria used to rank or compare things.

What do we publish?

WebTransport guides, free tools, news about web platform and realtime API changes and AI coding tool releases, and hands-on coverage of AI coding tools. Technical guides link to primary sources: specifications, vendor documentation and project repositories.

How do we verify facts?

  • Technical claims are checked against the W3C and IETF documents, MDN and the project or provider documentation, and the check date is shown on the page.
  • If we cannot verify a claim, we leave it out or label it unverified. We do not guess endpoints, versions or prices.
  • If a site blocks automated access, we do not work around it, and we say so.

How do we test tools?

A comparison may say a tool was tested only if it was. Each tool section states what was actually tested and for how long. Where we relied on vendor documentation instead of first-hand use, we say that. We do not publish invented benchmarks, latency figures, prices, ratings or screenshots.

How we test AI coding tools

  • We describe only the results of tasks we actually ran. If we did not run it, we do not report an outcome.
  • Each tested page lists the tool and its version, the plan, the date the task was run, the exact task prompt, and what failed.
  • A page without a completed test is an explainer, not a verdict. It says what the tool’s own documentation states, with the date we read it, and it ranks nothing.
  • Prices come from the vendor’s official pricing page, written as text with the date we checked it.
  • We publish no ratings, scores or “best” claims for AI coding tools unless a page documents the tests behind them.

How are comparisons ranked?

Each comparison states its own selection and ranking criteria. Compensation never changes how things are ranked.

How do we handle updates and corrections?

Pages show a published date and an updated date. Pricing is recorded with the date it was checked. If you spot an error, contact us; we correct it and note material changes.

Some links on this site are affiliate links or otherwise compensated. Where that applies the page says so and the link uses rel="sponsored nofollow". Compensation does not change how things are ranked. See the disclosure.
